Bluetooth Internet Radio Car Kit by Livio - LVC02A.

wow, pretty awesome, Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) I have to admit I was really skeptical about this thing at first. My wife and I bought one of those Belkin FM transmitters a few years back for road trips and it was a POS. That was such a bad experience that the only reason I even tried this one was because I got it for free through a trial program. That being said. I tried it yesterday morning and was able to set it up out of the box and have it playing music through my car stereo in under five minutes without even opening the manual. I'm a pretty tech savy user, but that's still pretty awesome.
Elegant and complex, Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) Very nice looking device. Requires a Free Livio Radio App installed on a Smartphone. Paired easily to bluetooth with a 3G iPhone and streamed radio un-interupted while traveling 300 miles. Worked very well. A second iPhone with newer OS could not connect via Bluetooth but an included 10" 3.5 mini-plug wire allowed tunes on the phone to play through the Radio. Many buttons and controls did not behave as instuctions suggest. Volume control on device did not function as replacement for Radio Volume know. Have not tested phone calling features yet. Simultaneous Driving and calling seems inappropriate.
Great Bluetooth Internet Car Radio But with Some Qualms, Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) I have used a handful of different bluetooth apps for the iPhone (as most are targeted for). The BLUETOOTH INTERNET RADIO CAR KIT BY LIVIO is one of the cooler items for your car. For those that remember the old Monster kit that plugs into your car lighter (which, seems to be a port these days as I dont think they actually make lighters anymore) and you intercept the radio to play your iTunes, well those days are gone with this device.

I am pretty much reviewing this with using it for the basic purpose of either talking on the phone, or listening to the radio, With the Livio Internet Car Radio, you are using bluetooth technology which is a much sharper and higher quality sound and you are streaming live through thousands of stations of your choosing. Whether you want classic rock, contemporary, rap, talk radio, news, or country or whatever, there is a station for it.

Some of the reviewers have complained of the $4.99 price tag attached to everything. This is not entirely true. I have not paid for anything and I am able to get music through, and it sounds great.

Set up of the device is more or less simple. Plug into the cigarette lighter, attach the USB to the iPhone, then the auxiliary to the device. At least, thats how I set it up. Seems to work.

There are still some aspects I have not really utilized or examined close enough to comment here. I tried using it as a phone, but for some reason I was not able to hear the other person on the line. Now I dont know if I need to pay for the service that I have read about, but it was not as easy as I would have thought. It also advertises Pandora and other services.
Awesome, high-quality product!, Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) I haven't even used all of the features of this thing, and I love it. The device plugs into my car's 12v power socket and manages to flex into the perfect position. Both of my cars have slightly different socket placement, but the flexibility of this product allows for me to position it exactly where I like. Here are some of the features which I have found to be noteworthy:

There is a very convenient (and inconvenient) power button located at the tip of the power supply. I say convenient because, in the case that occasionally the bluetooth on your phone doesn't fully connect you can easily turn it off to get the audio back to your phone. Alternatively, it is inconvenient because you can accidentally bump it and then have to fumble around to find your phone because you just cut off your bluetooth connection to your phone call.

You can program this to transmit over ANY FM radio station that your car can handle.

There are more great features which I have been unable to test, such as the iPhone app that it offers on its website. I don't have a smartphone nore a data connection. However, i can stream music from my phone's SD card and it sounds great.

On an additional note: my wife tells me that the sound quality on the mic is pretty good on the other end of the phone conversation.
Convenient, but performance will vary car-to-car, Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) This car kit is very convenient for playing music from my iPhone over the car radio using a bluetooth connection. Pairing with my iPhone works well. The first time I paired, I needed to download an app. The app allows you to stream internet radio stations. I personally rarely use the app. I find other iPhone apps do a better job and have a smoother interface. If you have iTunes running in the background, once you pair the device and hit play it will start playing iTunes. The same with other music apps. If no music app is running, it will auto-start the custom Livio app.

I have never cared much for FM transmitters, as I hate the background static and loss of fidelity over hard-wired connections. Unfortunately, this is still a necessary evil for me because my cars do not have aux-in connections nor functional cassette decks.
Flawless!, Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) Works great, Excellent quality too! Connecting via Bluetooth was seamless and never hiccuped.
Confusing, Confusing, Confusing, Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) We actually did get this device to work but the process was rather painful. The box and the book only mention iPhone and iPod so for awhile I thought this was impossible to use with a Smart Phone. Thankfully some helpful Amazon reviewers cleared that up for us and our Sprint Samsung Smart Phone does work with this product. Our first trials had a lot of static but we finally fine tuned it enough to get some decent sound. It took awhile to figure out how to add stations and we still think 1.FM which was the first we found (or was already installed?) is our favorite. We found 100hitz - Top 40 station but so far at least all we have been able to do with it is to connect, buffer and stream stop so as of yet no music played. What does this do that our Belkin Bluetooth doesn't do? To discover this I played the Livio app on the Smart Phone, turned on the Belkin Bluetooth and the Livio music came through with much better sound than it did with this Livio radio device.
Very nice, cool gadget for the car., Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) The hardware:
Comes with the lighter adapter. And auxiliary cable to go from your smart phone to the adaptor incase you don't want to use blue tooth. A lot of nice features about this from having a usb plug on the adaptor charger (so that you can charge your phone while using the power adapter)to the easy to use buttons. Aside from listening to internet radio on your car speakers you can also make and receive calls if you do make or receive a call your radio stream will get disconnected, you will have to reconnect once the call is over, the reason for the disconnection I believe is that the phone switches bandwidth types at that point a call is made or received, a limitation of the phone not the Livio device. There is a small but detailed booklet that comes with it explaining each of the features and walks you through the install. The device is solidly built. Th interface keypad is attached to the power adapter through a flexible goose neck that is sturdy. The unit it's self is very solidly built.

The software:
The software is easy enough to download I used the Market place software on my sprint phone to find the Livio software. I like the ease of use of the user interface. The easy search for radio stations. I was also able to use Pandora with this system. I was able to use my ipod nano with the supplied cable. There are hundreds of free stations available on the free version of Livio internet car radio but my suggestion would be to upgrade to the Livio pro version because it opens up so much more in the way of listener experience.

Slight draw backs:
You will need to set your radio station to an unused station id so my suggestion is that you take some time and find one with as little static as possible, I was able to find some that once I tuned the Livio adapter in that didn't have any static. On the more staticy stations the static will come through to a certain extent. I did have the best luck using vacant station id's in the upper half of the frequency.
Why pay a premimum for this product?, The Livio kit is your typical Blue Tooth dongle with a FM transmitter. These type of products have been around for years. The product works OK but the reason I give it 1 star is they are charging $100 when the competitors charge $49.00. Take a look at the pictures of the GoGroove
